And challenging market conditions continue to weigh heavily—influencing asset allocation strategies and heightening concerns over how to best align assets with future liabilities.

RBC Dexia’s first pension quick poll surveyed Canadian defined benefit plan sponsors for their opinions and perspectives on the current state and future prospects of Canada’s pension systems. General pessimism prevailed about the ability of existing plans to meet future pension obligations. And survey respondents freely shared their recommendations to improve both defined benefit plans and individual savings programs.
