The GSL Nordic Securities Lending Summit | January 28, 2010

The markets of the Nordic region hold significant potential and increasing appeal for both securities lending providers and institutional investors. As the investment industry recovers from the recent global financial crisis and builds for future growth, the GSL Nordic Securities Lending Summit in Stockholm will focus on the key challenges facing lending institutions and the attractiveness of their products and services to beneficial owners. Drawing on the views of key investing institutions and securities lending providers, the event will analyse lending needs in the Nordic region and beyond, the balance of risk and rewards securities lending offers, current business challenges and the likely impact of new regulation.

Recent market events have challenged the relationship between beneficial owners and lending agents raising new questions about business models and the varied approaches to lending in a rapidly evolving market. Against this backdrop, RBC Dexia’s Oliver Madden, will participate in two dedicated expert panel sessions. “Securities Lending Fundamentals” will explore the changing dynamics of the industry and key lending related questions and issues beneficial owners must consider. A separate panel session “Securities Lending – a business facing challenges and opportunities” will explore the complexities and controversies of the securities lending business in more detail. It will also assess lessons learned from the recent global financial crisis, alternative collateral decision making choices for beneficial owners and key industry trends and drivers for the coming year.
