Administration & Technology Stream: Has Australian Unit Registry Fallen Behind Global Best Practice?
David Travers - Managing Director, RBC Dexia Investor Services Australia

Although Australia boasts one of the largest fund bases in the Asia-Pacific region, the high level of manual processing within the local investment industry continues to present significant challenges to the market. In this special panel session, moderated by Investment & Technology Editor Michael Bailey, RBC Dexia’s David Travers will join panellists to outline the current market environment and describe efforts to increase industry automation through the use of messaging facilities such as SWIFT. David will also describe the implementation of RBC Dexia’s own SARA unit registry system, the efficiency benefits this has brought to the business and ongoing efforts to boost automation. Panellists will also explore wider ways to improve unit registry for managed fund investors in Australia and beyond.
