FSC NextGen 2010 Conference | August 11-13, 2010 | Melbourne

The inaugural annual conference of the newly rebranded Financial Services Council (FSC), NextGen, will focus on growing international opportunities in a period of global financial industry change and reform. The conference, formerly branded under the Investment and Financial Services Association (IFSA) banner, will draw on an impressive pool of speakers including longstanding former Australian Prime Minister, The Hon Bob Hawke AC and both the Minister for Financial Services, Superannuation and Corporate Law, the Hon Chris Bowen MP and Shadow Treasurer and federal member for North Sydney, the Hon Joe Hockey MP. The conference will focus on Australia’s potential in global markets and efforts to drive its future prosperity and an analysis of Asia’s growing role in the world economy. Speakers will include a number of high profile executives from the investment management industry, including Schroder Investment Management Australia CEO Greg Cooper, Janus Capital Co-CEO Jack Lin and Russell Investment Global CIO Peter Gunning.

As market recovery gathers pace and the appetite for business growth returns this special FSC chaired major issues section workshop session will focus on the key challenges facing market players targeting Asia. RBC Dexia Head, Sales & Distribution, Asia-Pacific, Scott McLaren will join Lindsay Mann, CEO of First State Investments Singapore and Anthony Fasso, Director, International Business, AMP Capital to debate the issues on a panel chaired by Peter Promnitz, Region Head, Asia Pacific, Mercer. This session will provide insights from current and former Australian financial services business leaders in Asia who will discuss business and cultural dynamics, what it takes to succeed and lessons learned along the way. The session will also provide an overview of the future opportunities panel participants see facing the Australian financial services industry.
