The impact of regulation on the fund management industry will be the central theme of the two-day ALFI roadshow in Switzerland – calling at Zurich on June 15, and Geneva on June 16. The UCITS IV directive is about to come into force across the European Union. It offers investment professionals new tools such as the Management Company Passport, but also brings large-scale organisational challenges such as the Key Investor Information requirement. The far-reaching Alternative Investment Fund Managers directive (AIFMD) will be another hot issue. Delegates will get insight into how the directive, which proposes a new legal framework to protect investors, may affect their strategies.

Tom Weiland is Director, Legal & Regulatory Analysis at RBC Dexia Investor Services in Luxembourg. In this role, Tom is responsible for providing strategic analysis and counsel on legal and regulatory issues relevant to the investment fund industry. Tom has more that 20 years experience in this field and has held various senior positions focused on legal and regulatory issues within Banque de Luxembourg, BNP Paribas and RBC Dexia. He is a member of the Luxembourg Fund Association (ALFI) and a former lecturer at the Luxembourg Banking Training Center (IFBL). Tom holds a Master's degree in economics from the University of Strasbourg, France.
