ALFI/NICSA Global Investment Funds Forum | September 28-29, 2010 | Luxembourg

Focus on global fund distribution

As market recovery gathers pace and investment managers target new growth opportunities, attention is becoming increasingly focussed on global distribution channels. The 19th annual ALFI/NICSA global investment funds forum will explore the future opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for fund promoters, with a special conference emphasis this year on distribution, governance and market infrastructure. As market interest in emerging economies grows, the forum will also include a special session on fund distribution activities in Latin America. In turn, the conference will feature presentations exploring trends and policies in European pension funds and ways in which the global financial crisis is reshaping the investment industry, public policy and US politics. Leading global industry experts, including Jean-Michel Loehr, Chief Industry & Government Relations at RBC Dexia Investor Services (RBC Dexia), will debate key market issues during an intensive two day programme, sharing insights and intelligence on the very latest industry developments.

RBC Dexia in the agenda

Target 2 Securities (T2S)/Luxembourg Central Security Deposit (Lux CSD): simply new securities settlement plumbing or a tidal change in the fund industry?

Jean-Michel Loehr – Chief, Industry & Government Relations, RBC Dexia Investor Services

Infrastructure supporting the European industry faces significant reform and development with the advent of the pan-European T2S initiative. This special panel session will explore the ongoing development of T2S and likely future implications of the project. It will also assess the likely impact on and role of the Lux CSD as the changes ahead take effect. The panel will draw on the views and insights of leading industry figures, with Mr. Loehr providing specific strategic and administrative perspective. A key question will centre on the future role and impact of central securities depositories on fund share order processing and settlement, given the leading role of the Luxemburg fund industry in supporting the cross-border distribution of funds within and beyond the EU borders. The choice between the CSD model or dedicated fund processing solutions will also feature in the debate.
